Thankful in November

I learned about 'Thankful in November' from Krissie over at Questions for Dessert.   It got me thinking that way too often I get overloaded with my crazy life that I forget to stop & just be thankful.  For the month of November I will post things I am thankful for.  I suspect the posts will range from sappy to downright ridiculous.  This month long project will force me to look at life through a different lens.  Sometimes that is exactly what needs to be done.

I created a Thankful page & will post daily there instead of a new blog post every day.  At the end of the month I will summarize my 30 days of Thankful.

Today I registered for my first 2012 race.  This will be the 3rd year in a row doing this particular race and most likely it will be my last.  Which race?  The Atlanta Iron Girl.  Why the last time?  There are a couple of reasons, well, mainly one.  The race registration is $105 for a sprint triathlon.  Yeah, crazy right?!  This year they raised it $10 over last year.  There is no early registration because this race will sell out in about 3 weeks.

Now, don't get me wrong, this is a great race.  I have really enjoyed participating in the event the last 2 years.  This is a ladies only sprint triathlon and is perfect for first timers.  With the exception of running out of food for the finishers last year it is really well organized event.  I just have a difficult time swallowing the $105 price of admission.  Somehow, $95 didn't seem so bad.  If I am going to stay in triathlon for the long term which is my intent I better just get used to it because it only gets worse with the longer distances.

So today I am thankful that I have the means to afford these crazy race entry fees because I so love to compete in them!!

  2. I love triathlons, but the prices are outrageous! If they were cheaper I think I would add about 5 more races a year!
